1 Simulation Update S. Margetis

2 Issues Since in August most people were gone the action items are the still the same as listed in Jim’s slide for the BNL meeting (next slide) –Inclusion of ‘PileUp’ in full simulations Jim’s hand calculations show small effect (slide 4) –Full simulation of IST-less configuration Some progress in understanding difference between hand and full D0 reconstruction efficiencies AOB, ie increase statistics for detail GEANT ‘Patch’ studies

JT 3 Pileup – critical to selling the proposal A modest proposal –Proposal geometry and configuration (TPC+SSD+IST2+IST2+PXL2+PXL1) –with pileup –without –Reduced configuration with standard geometries (TPC+SSD+PXL2+PXL1) –with pileup –without Does Pileup Matter? Does the configuration matter?

JT 4 A Prediction – pileup doesn’t matter for a 200  sec detector Proposal configuration with pileup and UPC electrons Proposal configuration without pileup and without UPC electrons

5 Inlusion of PileUp in GEANT simulations - our current scheme Three sources Out of time events, UPC e, Beam background Out of time events are introduced as correlated background from parametrized minbias and zvertex shapes. Infinite momentum (straight line is assumed) UPC e and Beam background as white noise. Spiraling can be accounted but not as correlated noise. We need guidance about actual numbers here. Compromises are mostly seconf order effects and due to schedule

6 In full simulation we used realistic TPC (dead sectors/padrows etc) [perhaps not a good idea] Unassigned hits on tracks All hits

7 In full simulation Kaons decay properly. Now things are coming together Proposal plot Hand with Kaon decay

8 Summary Pile-up work has began –We have a agreed upon scheme Handshake between Hand/GEANT seems feasible Tight but possible schedule for End- November review
