Football assignment By:shahd al baz 8D

Where did football originate from? The origin of football can be found many corners of history. The Chinese, Japanese, Italian, Ancient Greek, Persian, Viking, and many more. The Chinese played football games date as far back as 3000 years ago. The Ancient Greeks and the Roman used football games to get warriors in shape for battle. The Ancient Greeks and Romans are known to have played many ball games, some of which included using the feet. An activity resembling football can be found in the Chinese military manual Zhan Guo Ce compiled between the 3rd century and 1st century BC.It describes a practice known as cuju "kick ball", which originally involved kicking a leather ball through a small hole in a piece of silk cloth which was fixed on bamboo canes and hung about 9 m above ground.Variations of this game later spread to Japan and Korea, known as kemari.By the Chinese Tang Dynasty 618–907cuju games had become professionalized, with many players making a living playing cuju.

Actual football originated from But it was in England that football really began to take shape. It all started in 1863 in England, when two football association, association football and rugby football split off on their different course. Therefore, the first Football Association was founded in England.

Rules were established In 1848, at Cambridge university Mr.H.de Winton and Mr. Thring, who were both formerly at Shrewsbury school, called a meeting at Trinity College, Cambridge with 12 other representatives from Eton, Harrow, Rugby, Winchester and Shrewsbury. An eight-hour meeting produced what was the closest to the first set of modern rules and the most similar to those from our day today, known as the Cambridge rules. No copy of these rules now exist.Handling was only allowed for a player to take a clean catch entitling them to a free kick and there were many more rules such as throw-ins corner kicks. But it was arguably the most significant influence on the association football committee members responsible for formulating the rules of association football. Those rules were established because they thought that the game was getting to messy and player were playing in a disordered manner and so the rules were needed in order to make the game successful. Also rules were created because they needed order in the game because when a ball went out of the field the player would say it was not out thus they needed to unify the game as it started to get violent and started falling apart and out of control.

Football is a national sport Football is a national sport in over 60 nations: South America Western Europe: all countries ranging form Norway down to Greece. South East Asia: Countries ranging from Indonesia to the Thailand and Cambodia. Middle East countries: like the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, Qatar all play football as their national sport

Why I think football is a popular sport I think that football is famous world wide because over the years it has grown to become more than a sport and more than a mere game it has become a profession to some happy memories to children and bonding time for all it has made its way into our everyday life. For some people it is that time of the day that they can forget about there worries and their troubles and just enjoy football and even the poor people can play as it is a game for everyone. Another reason is football gave us and everybody in the world the ability to enjoy this sport whether you are able to play it or not because we all participated in football in a way even the not skilled or handicapped or injured they can watch but that is not enough as we are all part of the team. When we cheer for our team we lead them to victory. They do that because football is a game that involves skill and you never know how the game turns out and that excites people and makes them want to watch the game even more also people go to cheer for their favorite players or teams even if they lose. My third reason is football players that have managed to become our idols because of their manners and good will and good sportsmanship. They have shown little children that you will lose no matter how good you are but you will only be a great player if you get back on your feet try again and head for your next match. They should us that even the best will fall and made us feel like we are all children of this world together because we all have imperfections even legendary football players. I have one last reason and that is that football has brought people from all around the world together to support each other. Football has unified us all.

Different styles of football Yes there are different types of football for example, in north America the have what they call American football which is similar to rugby and football but a bit more rough and very dangerous. Points can be scored by carrying the ball over the opponent's goal line, catching a pass thrown over that goal line, kicking the ball through the opponent's goal posts or tackling an opposing ball carrier in his own end zone. The objective of the game is to score points by advancing the ball into the opposing team's end zone. The ball can be advanced by running with it or throwing it to a teammate. Also rugby used to be played in the same league as football but later split off.
