WEB 2.0 TOOLS VIDEO HOSTING SITE YOUTUBE

WHAT IS YOUTUBE? Youtube is a video hosting site were anyone can upload videos expressing their talents, interests and opinions completely free of charge. During this powerpoint you will learn the basics of setting up an account, uploading your personal videos and sharing them; in addition you will learn how to favorite, comment and save certain videos for later viewing.

GETTING STARTED- SETTING UP AN ACCOUNT Setting up and account is quick and easy, simply go to and click the sign in button at the top right corner of the screen.

Once you click the sign in button you will be redirected. Click the “create an account” link at the bottom of the page and follow the steps, you are now one step closer to sharing your videos to the world.

UPLOADING A VIDEO Once you have signed up you can now start sharing videos by clicking the upload button at the top of the page. Once you’ve been redirected you will have many options. You can select video files to upload or drag files into the centre, you can also choose whether the video will be public, private or unlisted. You can also create videos using the options on the right side of the page; such as recording with your webcam or creating a photo slide show, edit videos using the tools located along with the other options on the right side of the screen.

Once you have selected the video file you want to upload you can add a title along with a description to the video that will appear once the video has been uploaded. You can also add tags so when someone searches for a tag you submitted your video will be in the results. On the right side of the page you can choose your privacy settings and share the video to Google Plus, Facebook or Twitter along with choosing the category the video will be placed in. You have now uploaded a video for the world to view!

INTERACTING Other than uploading your own videos you can explore virtually anything using the search bar at the top of the homepage. While watching a video you can subscribe to the user and any new videos they post will show up on your homepage. While you’re there you can simply comment, like, share and add the video to a playlists using the controls below the video.

YOU’RE READY TO EXPLORE! Now that you have learned the basics of uploading and interacting on YouTube you can now start sharing. Remember there are many things still to be discovered, have fun and explore!
