Social Studies is…  …designed to help young people develop the ability to make informed, Christ-centered, and reasoned decisions for the public good as citizens of a culturally diverse world  Components:  CULTURE  HISTORY  ECONOMICS  GOVERNMENT  GEOGRAPHY

6 th Grade English  Independent Reading Contract: Due back Monday, Sept. 14 th  Reading Log: Due every Friday  Must be signed by a parent each week  Read at least 20 minutes per night  Novels:  Where the Red Fern Grows (quarter 1)  The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe (quarter 2)  Island of the Blue Dolphins (quarter 3)  George Muller (quarter 4)  Study Guides:  Each study guide is due at the end of the section we are reading.  For example, if it is a “Chapters 1-5 study guide”, it is due when we have finished reading chapter 5.  Oral Presentations :  Sporadically throughout novels
