Oyster Reestablishment Program Approximate Cost: $15M Part 1 ($12M): Placement of Cultch Material on Public Oyster Seed Grounds 855 acres throughout coastal Louisiana Results expected in 17 months after cultch placement Part 2 ($3M): Upgrade to Existing Sea Grant Oyster Hatchery Provide a supplemental source of oyster larvae and oyster seed. Larvae can be released into the water directly over oyster beds with cultch material and/or be set on oyster cultch to create oyster seed.

Shell Island Restoration Approximate Cost: $110M Background: Shell Island is part of the Barataria Basin Barrier Shoreline. It is a key barrier between Gulf of Mexico and Barataria Basin. Island fragmented by strong tropical storms and land subsidence Project Goals: Restoring geomorphic and hydrologic function of Shell Island is an important priority for the Barataria Basin.

Approximate Cost: $65M Background: Proposed with DOI and the State of Mississippi, this project will restore a portion of the Chandeleur Islands. These islands have been directly impacted from the spill. Project Goals: Restore dune and marsh habitat Stabilize remaining unvegetated portions Chandeleur Islands Restoration

Approximate Cost: $45M Background: The Biloxi Marsh complex provides important habitat in the Lake Pontchartrain Basin. The project area has lost approximately 15,640 acres between Project Goals: Create a breakwater structure to protect the existing Biloxi Marsh habitat from erosion. Biloxi Marsh Shoreline Protection

Approximate Cost: $31.3M Background: An important land feature designed to decrease storm surge and slow salt water intrusion. Project Goals: Restore the eastern ridge of Bayou Grand Liard and the adjacent marsh habitat to the east of the Bayou. Approximate Cost: $44M Background: A protective barrier island of the Barataria Basin. Project Goals: Increase the longevity of Chenier Ronquille Island by restoring or creating dune and marsh platforms. Approximate Cost: $3.3M Background: The back-bay side of Grand Isle is subjected to wave action from strong north winds during winter cold front passages and when tropical storms or hurricanes make landfall east of the islands Project Goals: Reduce erosion on the bay side of Grand Isle Protect important residential and commercial infrastructure Bay Side Segmented Breakwater at Grand Isle

Approximate Cost: $3M Background: Important ecological and hydrologic divide between Gulf of Mexico and marsh habitat. West Grand Terre Island has some of the highest erosion rates in coastal Louisiana. Project Goals: Stabilize the bay side of southwestern West Grand Terre Island, using rock armament. Approximate Cost: $9M Background: Important ecological and hydrologic divide between Gulf of Mexico and marsh habitat. Project Goals: Restore the beach on the southwest (Gulf) side of West Grand Terre Island using sediment pumped from an offshore source area.
