Is this possible? Why or Why Not? What is this guy feeling right now?
1. As altitude increases, temperature decreases. Mountain tops are snowy… …even in summer.
Atmosphere gives the Denver Broncos a home field advantage. Why? Their “Mile High” Stadium is 1 mile above sea level = 5280 ft. They have one of the best home field winning records in the NFL (190 wins – 65 losses – 1 tie)
2. As altitude increases, air pressure and air density decreases. There is less air up there… so it is harder to breath.
If there are different densities of air….what do you think might happen? (Remember our density column?)
3. Layers! The atmosphere is separated into layers that differ in temperature, density and pressure.
Layers of air surround the earth.
4. What the layers do…. Thermosphere – contains ionosphere, aurora borealis (northern lights) Mesopause Mesosphere – burn meteorites Stratopause Stratosphere – ozone layer protects from sun Tropopause Troposphere – weather, what we breath

Summary: Which layer do we live in? Which layer has the ozone layer? What makes one layer different from the next? What do all the layers have in common?
