oneone CS-6C Objective: To measure the mass and volume of an irregularly shaped solid in order to calculate its density. CSI Note: Can you apply what you know to find the density of solids? HAVE YOU FOLLOWED THE STEPS FOR STARTING CLASS?? Drill: 1. Get a Lesson Sheet from the SET. 2. Complete the Drill portion only.

oneone CS-6C 3. Place the solid on the triple beam balance, and determine its mass.
oneone CS-6C 4. Record the mass in the data chart. (2)
oneone CS-6C 5.Using a cup, add between 30mL and 60mL of water to the graduated cylinder.
oneone CS-6C 6. Record the volume of water in the data chart as your starting volume. (4)
oneone CS-6C 7. Carefully slide the object into the graduated cylinder.
oneone CS-6C 8. Record the total volume in the data chart. (3)
oneone CS-6C 9. Calculate the object volume by subtracting the starting volume from the total volume. (3 – 4)
oneone CS-6C 10. Record the object volume in the data chart. (5)
