Big Picture Update Integration Quality Responding to the needs of the community

Integration Services that treat the whole person Locally based integrated teams Some services remain “specialist” – but are delivered locally Unified records, estate, management and governance Our approach is; Service integration – with care

Integration Early win areas; Older people’s services Children’s services Back office services

Quality A focus on safety, experience, outcomes Focussing on the things that make a difference Measuring quality with greater clarity Relying more on patient experience as a barometer of quality Quality is a foundation for our future plans

Quality Our regulated environment is increasingly demanding Good governance is our approach Established clinical leadership Local governance arrangements (close to patient care) Local management empowered to act

Quality Over 200 patient stories gathered in 2011/12 and over 2000 patient surveys; People really value the NHS services we deliver People generally have a good experience – but we can do better communication, care planning and carer support are key areas for us. “… They really do try hard I think with their menu and the food is well presented, it ’ s, in fact I could say it ’ s beautifully presented, if I went to a five star hotel I don ’ t think it would get it any better. It ’ s clean, it ’ s nicely presented on the plates that are in a different colour and it ’ s generally very good. I haven ’ t ever had a bad meal. ” (F65)

Responding to the needs of the Community Winter places the most demands on the NHS, we prepare for this; We coordinate our services daily to ensure the whole health system works together. Ensuring our community services can always get through. Ensuring our community beds are available.

Responding to the needs of the Community Our future plans include; Community Based Asset Development (ABCD) Working with communities to increase their overall health and wellbeing Estate development – renewal of estate to equip Cumbria for 21 st century healthcare – supporting primary care Records – ensuring we learn from GP’s – moving away from paper to electronic records that follow the patient

Investing for the future

Integration is progressing, we are taking care with our approach. Quality of services is paramount to us Our approach is to work closely with communities Our future plans are ambitious, but our past success equips us well to achieve them.
