What is the “ Picture Book ? ”

1.A book is consisting chiefly of pictures. 2. Primarily aimed at children preschool to age Most picture books are 24 to 32 pages. 4. Picture books with few words and at least one picture on each of its openings.

How to choose the “ Picture Book ”

First Stage : Sensory-motor Period ( 感官動作期 ) Birth to 2 years

We suggest… ★ If you want to choose picture books for your students. You can select the picture books without words or sentences, just only focus on pictures. ★ It can not only train their sensitive ability of colors but also increase their observational skills.

Second Stage : Preoperational Period ( 前操作期 ) 2 to 7 years

We suggest… ★ This stage, students start contact language. ★ If you want to choose picture books for your students. You can select : ※ The picture books with simple and easy words or sentences. ※ The picture books always repeat the same words or sentences.

Third Stage : Concrete Operational Period ( 具體操作期 ) 7 to 11 years

We suggest… ★ They start have ability to think logically. ★ If you want to choose picture books for your students. You can select : ※ The picture books with longer words or sentences. ※ According to their habits to select picture books. It can let their thinking matured.

Fourth Stage : Formal Operational Period ( 形式操作期 ) 11 to 15 years

We suggest… ★ The brain and language aspects almost develop maturely. ★ If you want to choose picture books for your students. You can select : ※ The picture books focus on grammar or literature; Let they have clearly cognition of language.

The answer is… Second Stage Preoperational Period ( 前操作期 ) 2 to 7 years

Because… ★ In this story, the author always repeats the same sentences. (It can increase their memory of words or sentences.) ★ This story teaches the cognitions of colors, animals ’ sounds and names. ★ This story uses short sentences, it ’ s easy for students to learn.
