Working with journalists … promoting success stories to the media… Journalists are people too… Don’t waste their time, or yours  Know what you want  Have your message ready  Be prepared and available  Stick to real news

Know what you want What do you want to say? Who do you want to reach? Why are you doing it?

Have your message ready 1) Know what you want to say 2) Say it  words  images  attitude 3) Say what you’ve said

Be prepared and available 1)Provide your mobile phone details 2)Answer your mobile when it rings 3)Be ready to talk 2) Be ready with hi-res “300dpi” images 3) Be ready with your message

Stick to real news … what would your teenager read? “New” news is good news… …but so is “people” news… …and “quirky” news… …and news relevant to specific audiences …and news relevant to specific times

Journalists are people too  They have headaches, hangovers, sick children and unreasonable deadlines  They appreciate (positive) feedback  They need to fill pages with useful stories sent by reliable sources illustrated using fantastic images. Regularly.
