Multidisciplinary Studies Endorsement 4 advanced courses defined as career and college ready from one or several endorsements not in a coherent sequence, Or 4 credits in each of four core subject areas including English IV and Chemistry or Physics, Or 4 credits in Advanced Placement Or Dual Credit selected from English, Math, Science, Social Studies, Languages Other Than English, or Fine Arts.

A student may earn a distinguished level of achievement by successfully completing: Four credits in Mathematics, which must include Algebra II, Four credits in Mathematics, which must include Algebra II,and Four credits in Science, Four credits in Science,and Meet all other requirements of the Foundation Graduation Plan with an endorsement. A student must graduate at the distinguished level of achievement to be eligible for automatic admission to a Texas university or college through the Top Ten Percent. A student who is not eligible for automatic admission may apply to any college or university if the student completes the Foundation Graduation Plan and achieves the appropriate admission requirements. Earning a distinguished level of achievement with an Endorsement and taking college prep courses, including Algebra II, will help all students meet college readiness requirements. During high school, a student may earn a performance acknowledgment for outstanding performance: In dual credit courses by earning 12 or more hours of college credit. ATTENDANCE FOR LEGAL COMPLIANCE State Absence Policy The Compulsory Attendance Law for credit (Texas Education Code ) states that a student may not be given credit for a course unless the student is in attendance for at least 90% of the days the class is offered.
All students returning from an absence must present a written note from the parent to the BCHS attendance secretary explaining the nature of the absence with a home phone number and student ID number. Dates of absences and reasons for the absence should be included. Students who do not bring a written note from the parent will receive an unexcused absence. They will have two school days to bring a note to change the absence to excused. Students who are in violation of the Compulsory Attendance Law will be reported to the District attendance officer who may institute court action.
Attendance for Credit Attendance Recovery allows students to recover hours where they have exceeded the allowable amount of absences Students will be allowed to regain credit for courses where credit was lost due to absences Each session of Attendance Recovery “erases” one absence in one designated class (hour-for-hour) Tutoring or other academic activities outside of a student’s regular school day may also be used as a way to gain attendance recovery hours. All forms of recovery must be documented and approved by an administrator.
Warning Notices Per District policy parents will be notified when their student is absent three days or parts of days in a four week period. The notice will inform the parent it is their responsibility to monitor their child’s attendance; require the student to attend school; and request a conference between school officials, the parent, and student to discuss the absences.
Excused Absences are Given for the Following Reasons: Personal illness Illness or death in immediate family Quarantine Weather or road conditions that make travel dangerous Religious holidays Students who arrive after 8:50 a.m. should report to the Attendance Office Once students arrive on campus they are not to leave without checking with the Attendance Office.

Business Careers High School Laptop Initiative All students are issued a laptop for use at school and home BCHS has integrated technology into the curriculum so that students and staff can stay abreast of cutting edge technology BCHS students are given the opportunity to take online courses which enable them to take the learning environment beyond the classroom and prepares them for college
