Welcome and introduction About us What Southwest Middle’s curriculum covers and what we do not cover….. Topics

Southwest Middle does… Teach and encourage abstinence. Abstinence is the best choice and only 100% safe choice. Emphasize the ONLY safe sex is abstinence. Answer student questions if they are appropriate. Encourage students to talk, share thoughts, and discuss questions with parents. Explore/discuss the emotional, physical and social consequences of sexual behavior. Invite students to share about dating, relationships and marriage practices of their own cultures, religion and family values. Believe that sex is NOT for kids!!

Southwest Middle does not…. Teach contraception Teach or demonstrate techniques for sexual intimacy. Demonstrate the use of a condom.

Opting Out Option of keeping your child out of all or part of this unit. If you choose to opt your child out, we need a written request to document your decision.

Video Viewing If you would like to view any or all of the videos that we use in the Family Life Unit, please contact your child’s Health & PE teacher via and they will set it up. Viewings can be done tomorrow (February 11) & next week February 14-February 18 from 7:00 AM-2:00 PM
