2. Read over the section in the book related to topic that we are on

4. write a good definition in your own words. Definition should answer [5 w’s] 1.WHO is the person? or 2.WHAT is the object [if not a person]? 3. WHERE did this occur? 4.WHEN did this take place? [DATE] and most importantly 5.WHY is this important to the study of this topic?

Doing Homework IS Critical to Success 5. Worksheets based on reading, charts, maps, etc. If you want to graduate with a diploma, not a certificate of attendance, you will need to pass ALL of the graduation tests

Graduation Tests With the exception of the writing test, the tests will feature reading sections with questions based on the reading, charts and graphs –with questions based on the charts and graphs, maps—with questions based on the maps, and multiple choice questions based on key concepts of the academic discipline.

A pyramid build with blocks is strong, a pyramid built with playing cards is __________. You get out of life—what you put in.

Students, who do not do their own work, do not do homework, do not study with someone else, or even attempt to study are like a house of cards when the wind comes along— it __________________.

Your Grade IS YOUR Concern!! [YGIYC!] It does not matter, if we have given you a good plan, and you decide not to use the tools in your toolbox. We can give you hints at how to best read a text, you will need to accomplish that. We can tell you vocabulary is important, but, if you never endeavor to learn vocabulary, we can not learn it for you. We will walk alongside of you and encourage you, BUT we can not walk for you.

Slide show gratefully dedicated to Mr. Thomas, my 10 th Grade World History Teacher, at Lutheran High East in Detroit. Mr. Thomas--- you took a chance on me as a student—you entrusted me with responsibility and helped me grow as a student and young man. You modeled the behavior that you expected. You taught me what it meant to be a servant. You left a much higher-paying job in the oil fields of Oklahoma to become a parochial school teacher—even thought the public schools would have easily paid you twice as much. Thank you for helping me to help others. You taught me ---- Sola Dei Gloria. © 2010 TR, Ltd. Permission given to use and disseminate as long as done for no charge.
