Passive Solar

Where Does Light Come From?

What is Passive Solar? A system that collects, stores, and redistributes solar energy without the use of fans, pumps, or complex controllers (without MACHINES!) Some examples: Direct Gain Trombe Wall Sunspace

Direct Gain South-Facing windows absorb Sun directly

How it Works

Trombe Wall South facing window has an airspace and then a wall that absorbs the heat from the Sun to heat up the room.

How it Works

What if you still want light?

Sunspace Collects heat for the main part of a building with a secondary room that is like a Green House.

How it Works

What Kind of Windows Work?

Horizontal vs. Vertical Windows

The Best Types of Windows!

How Much Light Will Come Through the Windows?

Traditional Building Methods: Saltbox House
