Thank you for coming to Samsbiblestories.com and for taking a look at the lessons I have added. These lessons are the result of years of teaching Sunday school at an Elementary level. God has richly blessed me in being able to share His Word with thousands of young people. It is now my privilege to share them with you. Please feel free to use them with your class, wherever God has planted you. The only think I ask is that you drop me a line and let me know who you are and how the lessons are working for you. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated. God Bless you, Sam God Bless

Our Story I need Volunteers to play Nabal, Abigail, Abigail’s servant, Nabal’s workers, David and David’s men.

Meet Nabal and his wife Abigail 2 A certain man in Maon, who had property there at Carmel, was very wealthy. He had a thousand goats and three thousand sheep, which he was shearing in Carmel. 3 His name was Nabal and his wife’s name was Abigail. She was an intelligent and beautiful woman, but her husband was surly (quarrelsome) and mean in his dealings. (in fact, his name means “Fool”.) I Samuel 25

Our story starts out with David hiding out from King Saul in the wilderness. David and his men had watched out over the area and protected the local sheep herders from bandits. In exchange for this, it was customary to collect a fee at the end of the shearing season. David’s men traveled to Nabal’s home, who was the rich land-owner. It was time to collect their fee. They said to Nabal:

‘Long life to you! Good health to you and your household! And good health to all that is yours!’ Our men have protected your shepherds and made sure that no- one stole what was yours, now we have come to collect our wages. Nabal answered:

10 Who is this David? I have never heard of him. There are many servants now-a-days trying to make a name for themselves. I will not give my bread and water and meat that is for my servants and give it to someone I don’t even know. 12 David’s men turned around and went back. When they arrived, they reported every word. 13 David said to his men, “Each of you strap on your sword!” So they did, and David strapped his on as well. About four hundred men went up with David

14 One of Nabal's servants said to his wife Abigail, “Have you heard? David sent some messengers from the wilderness with greetings for our master, but he insulted them and sent them away. Please do something! This could be a disaster for our entire village. So Abigail knew that she had to do something fast!

18 Abigail quickly gathered a large amount of supplies and loaded them on donkeys. 19 Then she said to the servants, “You go on ahead and I will follow you.” But she said nothing to her husband. 21 Earlier David had made an oath. David: It looks as though we protected everything for this guy—for nothing. We did him a good turn, and now he rewards us with evil. 22 I will not leave alive a single male of Nabal’s household. 20 As she rode down the mountain on a hidden trail, David and his men were approaching, and they met.

23 When Abigail saw David, she dropped quickly from her donkey and fell to the ground in front of him, bowing. Abigail (at David’s feet): 24 My lord, any guilt here falls on me. Please let me, your servant, speak, and may you hear the words I speak. 25 My lord, you must not take seriously the words of this worthless man, Nabal. His actions have proven that his name and his nature are the same: Nabal is a fool.

David: Arise, and return home in peace. I have listened to your words, and I have granted your request. Shortly after this time, Nabal, the Fool, got really drunk and fell over dead. David remembered the wisdom of Abigail, he sent for her and she became his wife, The Queen of all Israel! All Because Abigail was not afraid to…

Prove you care about others by being part of the solution..
