cargo-partner around the globe

cargo-partner’s Environmental policy  cargo-partner's management has defined environmental responsibility as just as important a corporate goal as cargo-partner group's economic management.  While the company's financial goals certainly remain unchanged, the challenge consists in successfully incorporating environmental goals into the company’s overall strategy.  Measures and activities to avoid climate change are a priority.

cargo-partner’s Environmental policy  Therefore, we focus on energy efficiency, waste prevention, and waste separation as well as on the environmentally conscious use of operating resources at all our subsidiaries.  The environment and climate change are global issues that require mostly global answers. The Association "Environmental cargo- partners" founded by cargo-partner provides the platform needed to achieve this goal.  We use our clients' environment-related demands as guidance and commit to complying with the existing legal framework.

The cargo-partner way  Creation of (internal) awareness  Optimization of transport  Reduction of transport’s energy consumption Sustainability generated by efficiency:

Creation of (internal) awareness  Driver‘s training for those, who use a corporate car, including top management (– 32 to CO 2 /a)  Driver‘s training for all employees with their private cars (– 24 to CO 2 /a)  Change in heating installation (calorific boiler), daylight control of lighting (– 11 to CO 2 /a)  Free-cooling IT Server-room (- 9 to CO 2 /a)  Procurement regulations: e.g. company cars (- 18 to CO 2 /a)  Biogas light truck (- 11 to CO 2 /a)  Electric car ( - 4 to CO 2 /a) Savings of 109 tons CO 2 per year

Mobility Tesla Roadster  Immediately available  Currently only e-car with sufficient range 250 – max. 400 km  Battery: 6831 Li-Ion- Accumulators Electro mobility – to set an example

Optimization of Transport  Load efficiency of vehicles  Rail instead of truck for pre- and onward carriage ( to CO 2 /a)  Container shift to ocean line companies with ‘slow steaming’ to reduce fuel consumption ( to CO 2 /a in 2008)  Shift from air to sea freight (where appropriate) Savings of to CO 2 per year

Modal Shift - The CO 2 footprint  kg on 3 palettes from area Trnava, Slovakia/EU, to Melbourne, Australia  Air cargo: via Frankfurt – kg CO 2  Rail to Hamburg and sea cargo – 500 kg CO 2

Reduction of transport‘s energy consumption  “We assume, that transport is hardly to be substituted under current trade and prosperity”  New technologies are necessary: Research & development

Conclusions  Governmental aid for research and use of carbon-mitigating technologies  Creating a public opinion which prefers climate friendly products and transports.  CO 2 calculating standards:  Creating a common European and/or global standard

Environmental-Awards 2010 / 2011 for the package of innovations  Lufthansa Cargo Climate Care Award 2011& 2009  First in Category Customers (2011) Picture from left to right: Karl Ulrich Garnadt, Chairman Lufthansa Cargo AG; Stefan Krauter, Chairman cargo-partner group; Christian Stingl, Managing Director cargo-partner Germany  Second in Category Customers (2009)  Nominated for Austrian Climate Protection Award 2010 Category: Industry and Multinationals  VCOE Mobility Award 2010 Second in Category Business Companies  Ecomanagement 2011 Category Champion
