What is the Apple Education Licensing Program (AELP)? A purchasing program that combines software licensing with software maintenance to cover institutionally-owned or institutionally-leased computers, and optionally, student- owned and faculty/staff-owned computers at a consistent annual cost. 2

Mac Software Collection Purchase of Mac Software Collection is mandatory for enrollment in AELP Bundles Mac OS, iLife, & iWork MUST enroll 100% of installed base at one of two enrollment levels: – Campus – Department 3

Mac Software Collection 4 Department is defined as a discreet academic or administrative unit within a higher education institution that (a) is headed by a Dean, Vice President, Vice Chancellor or Department Chair and (b) has a minimum purchase requirement of 500 seats for that department.

Mac Software Collection How is minimum enrollment determined? The number of Macs still in service that have been acquired through purchase or lease over the last four year. Apple will determine if the number submitted is sufficient based on purchase history. – Max attrition allowed is 15% and UA and/or the enrolling department must certify the number. 5

Mac Software Collection Seats are purchased in bundles of 25, 100, 500, 2,000, and 10,000 No additional purchased required for Macs acquired during the agreement period. If enrolling at department level: 500 seats = $15,000 annual cost + 10% one-time enrollment fee of $1,500 Total first year cost = $16,500 Per Apple, UA’s installed base is approximately 1,100 seats. 6

Professional Applications Aperture, Final Cut Studio, Final Cut Express, Logic Studio, Logic Express Purchased departmentally, but MUST cover 100% of instructional installed base – Purchased in bundles of 5, 25, 100, and 500 – Unlike Mac Software Collection, additional purchases of seats are required for Macs acquired during the agreement period – Replication of media is NOT allowed 7
