Technology To Support Idling Reduction Single-system EPS A duct delivers warm or cooled air to a truck. The face of the duct, which is held in place by a window adaptor, also provides an electrical outlet and sometimes an Internet connection and TV services. Dual-system EPS A wayside pedestal provides electrical power to a truck equipped with plug-in capable equipment. Complementary Technologies Telematics/GPS Systems Provide data about vehicle location and engine status, including idling episodes. These data allow managers to identify idling patterns and determine which solutions make the most sense. Cab insulation, window glazing, reflective paint, and passive measures Can reduce a stationary vehicle’s energy requirements, allowing the use of smaller, lighter, and less-expensive idling reduction equipment (with faster ROI). 20
