Currently the Tybee Island Fire Department has 32 Volunteer Firefighters and 1 Full Time Firefighter. We have 3 Part Time Firefighters who are Master Firefighters. Additionally, we have 3 First Responders for Rescue 6 who are not firefighters. Fire Department

Emergency Management: Monitored Tropical Storm Arthur dispersing advisories received from CEMA and the National Weather Service to the Mayor and City Manager. Attended the Critical Workforce Shelter Tour conducted by CEMA and the Savannah Hilton Head Airport staff Attended the Chatham County Emergency Management Disaster Recovery Plan Refresher Meeting. Met with Atkins representative Margret Walton to review and discuss the City’s disaster Debris Monitoring Contract I have attended the Elevation Certificate Training Class conducted by the Regional CRS / ISO Representative. Coordinated for the removal of files from the Archives Room that had reached their retention schedule. Shredded were 15-95gallon containers.
Emergency management Attended the Carl Vinson Institute of Government CRS Workshop Accompanied the GIRMA Insurance Representatives for an inspection of updates of all City Buildings. Attended the CEMA County Wide Recovery Planning Meetings Recovery Support Function 1 & 5 Community Planning during Recovery and Infrastructure Recovery.
