The Reconstruction Amendments 13 th,14 th, 15th 1864 – before southern stated could be re- admitted to the Union, they had to accept (ratify) these amendments. 13 th – Abolishes Slavery 14 th –Grants citizenship to all former slaves, referred to as “ freedmen” 15 th – grants voting rights, regardless of race ( to males only)
