 Type II Diabetes is a chronic disease in which the glucose (sugar) levels in the blood are too high.  90-95% forms of diabetes are Type II.  It usually appears after the age of 40 but is being seen more in younger children

 Diabetes has been known for over two thousand years  Roger Hinsworth discovered it in 1935 that there was another form of diabetes, this is how type II diabetes became known to mankind.

 Infections that heal slower than usual  Fatigue  Increase in hunger and thirst  Increased urination  Tingling of hands and feet Often type II diabetes is suspected if their blood sugar levels are above 200 mg/dL  If the symptoms are continuous for over a week, seek a doctor.

 Type II diabetes isn’t typically inherited genetically but from the lifestyle of family.  Childhood obesity is directly linked to type II diabetes among children.

 Through physical activity, healthy eating plan, and prescribed medication the effects of type II diabetes can be lowered greatly  Basal insulin may be needed for more serious cases  Blood sugar to be tested regularly through a glucometer

 Diet and exercise are the two most common ways to treat type II diabetes and can prevent it if started early in life

 Family support is important motivation to keep exercising and eating healthy  Along with helping the patient, family members may get in better shape by picking up some of the same habits

 Population of having type 2 diabetes is large.  It used to be called “adult-onset diabetes” because mainly older people had type 2 diabetes.  Type 2 diabetes occurs to people who are 40 and overweight, and have family history, but type 2 diabetes is increasing in younger people.
