Summary of Progress to Date

Objective 1 – Strategy 1 Lakewood School District staff members are recognized for their diverse contributions to the school community Activities and TaskYear 1Comments District and schools recognize staff formally and informally  Ongoing recognition weeks, staff accomplishments, annual ceremony, staff meetings, Peak Performers Develop additional ways to recognize staff in each building. Share at school board meetings  Staff representation on Committees & Task Forces, State Recognitions, National Board Certifications Conduct surveys of students, staff and families regarding culture and climate  Surveys conducted as part of Accreditation & during parent conferences  = Year the activity or task is scheduled to occur

Objective 2 – Strategy 1 Schools and the district will utilize the latest technology to provide students, staff, parents and the community with relevant school and student information and notification of events. Activities and TaskYear 1Comments Expand use of Family Access to provide student information to parents  Ongoing expansion of modules. Added access for Elementary. Improve and expand the quality of district, school and classroom websites  Implemented School wires, ongoing development of district, building and program websites, blogs, surveys, podcasts Implement online discipline system using Family Access  Implemented during 2010/11 at LHS & LMS Utilize automated messaging service to notify families  Building of database and text messaging for parent notification  = Year the activity or task is scheduled to occur

Objective 2 – Strategy 1 (cont.) Schools and the district will utilize the latest technology to provide students, staff, parents and the community with relevant school and student information and notification of events. Activities and TaskYear 1Comments Continue and expand annual district Technology Expo  Expansion of expo to include more students, staff and agency partners Evaluate need and effectiveness of Key Communicators. Make changes as needed  Updated database and begin discussion regarding alternate avenues for community input. Use of “social media” Explore and expand volunteer opportunities  Continue to recruit support from families, businesses, & organizations. Connect students to community through service opportunities (Senior projects, clubs, athletics) Enhance relationships with the Navy, Tribal and local business partners  Partner with Navy to address deployment/enrollment issues, Carroll’s Creek Nimitz Day. Objective 3 – Strategy 1 Lakewood School District staff will provide opportunities for students to work in partnership with their peers and make connections within the community. Student development of self-esteem and self-worth facilitate student responsibility and enhance success. Activities and TaskYear 1Comments Continue LINK Crew and WEB programs  Start up days for 6 th & 9 th grade students/mentors. Activities as funds allow Research, develop and implement a bullying prevention program  Began training and focus on anti-bullying/harassment at LMS. Law Enforcement presentation to parents. Updated policy & procedures, Internet safety, installed video surveillance at LMS/LHS. Encourage students to participate in co-curricular, community service, leadership and academic activities  Ongoing recruitment in athletics, activities, clubs and leadership opportunities. CTE competitions/regional/state/national Administer Healthy Youth Survey and develop interventions determined from the survey results.  Administered 2010/11, Results to be analyzed by buildings and shared with the board in Fall 2011 Survey students regarding their interactions with adults at school and address areas needing improvement N/A  = Year the activity or task is scheduled to occur
