 SC Guidelines for Diabetes Care 2011

Screening for Diagnosis of Diabetes To test for diabetes or to assess risk of future diabetes, either A1C, Fasting Plasma Glucose (FPG), or 2-h 75-g Oral Glucose ToleranceTest (OGTT) are appropriate. An A1C level of 5.7% to 6.4% indicates increased risk for diabetes. The presence of diabetes is indicated by:  A1C level of 6.5 % or higher;  FPG level of > 126 mg/dl;  OGTT level > 200 mg/dl.
