Chapter 6:1-18

Contradictory ? 5vs16 "Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works." 6vs1, "Beware that you do not your righteous acts before men to be seen by them." Glorify God or Self glorification ?

2 religions in the world The religion of divine accomplishment (From Jesus / By Jesus / For Jesus) The religion of human achievement (Religion that has been masterminded by Satan since the fall) “

Hypocrisy / Self-Righteous Putting up a show Rearranging of ashes Seeking approval from men Self approval (Luke 10:11,12)

Matthew 5:20 / Luke 18:9-14 For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven. “Be careful,” Jesus said to them. “Be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.” – Mat 16:6

Pharisee’s worldview Make it heaven by their hard works of righteousness Driven by a religion of self accomplishment Powered by guilt, fear and human standards

Christian’s worldview Make it heaven because of the hard works of Jesus Christ on the cross Driven by a religion of God’s accomplishment Powered by grace, love and biblical standards

Works ? Pharisee’s - Proving themselves to heaven – Jesus said they will never make it. By faith in Jesus Christ we are already citizens of heaven. We work as the ambassadors of Jesus Christ. We are His work force, soldiers, slaves, sons and daughters – His extension.

Christian’s world The most important person is the King, not you, me or anyone else.  Please Him  Love Him  Promote / Exalt Him

Chapter 6:1-18 Dealing with others - Giving Dealing with God - Praying Dealing with ourselves - Fasting

Chapter 6:1-18 Father – Unseen (2 Corinthians 4:18) Sees - What is done in secret (1 Samuel 16:7) Will - Reward you (Mat 10:42 / Heb 11:26 / Rev 22:12)
