Bolivia and South America By Elbert & Nicolas

INTRODUCTION OF POTOSI MINING HILL IN BOLIVIA The hill was largely untouched when Spanish conquistadors stumbled across it in 1544.Over the next three centuries, it yielded a river of riches - more than 62,000 metric tonnes. Much of the silver even ended up in China - used to pay for England's new addiction to tea. Later on, POTOSI became the center of slavery laboring.

So, How did silver affect the worldeconomy? Caused the introduction of slavery trade that affected most countries in Africa. The houses lost the gilded ornamentation they once had. The rivers got polluted by the metal factories The relationship between countries diminished that led them into disruptive wars. European Economy went up dramatically.

Why did they choose Potosi to bring slaves to? Because the mountain contained the largest silver find in the world of all times.

How were the S.American countries treated after they were colonized? The native Americans were converted to Christianity. They were forced to mine for gold, raise Spanish food, and even carry the Spanish everywhere they went. Indians were enslaved, forced out of their lands, cheated by those who did "trade" with them, and generally mistreated.

Questions: CHOOSE THREE QSTNS FROM HERE NICOLAS!!!!!!!!!!!! - Did Spain help or just destroy and dis What was the purpose of spreading Christianity? - Did the conquering of the Aztec and the Incas change the world? - How much power did S. American have over the world? - How could Spain conquer South America? - What was the relationship between Cortez and Pizzaro? - Where did the Spanish get Christianity? - How did other countries know they had so much silver? Was it easy to spread Christianity here? - How was it spread?
