LEARNING ENHANCEMENT ADVOCACY PROGRAM (LEAP) EILEEN A,RODA District Supervisor Fule Almeda District

RATIONALE LEAP – is designed to achieve the development of 21 st century learners encouraging physical, intellectual, moral, creative and spiritual growth in a supportive and cooperative learning environment. The Learning Enhancement Staff composed of administrators, teachers and stakeholders of Fule Almeda District will work collaboratively in delivering differentiated learning experiences. The individual student is placed at the center of all learning through this innovative approach that meets the diverse needs of students in today’s classrooms.

For this purpose, it is likewise stated in the Enhanced Basic Education Act under section A which states that we shall create a functional basic education system that will develop productive and responsible citizens equipped with the essential competencies, skills and values for both life-long learning and employment.

Components of LEAP L – Literacy Skills Development E – E-Tool for Learning Development A – Affective Skills Development P - Physical Skills Development

Why is literacy across the curriculum important? Learning in any subject area requires the use of language; therefore, reading and writing are used as tools for learning the subject area. Connecting literacy learning to other content reinforces learning in all areas. Reading, writing, speaking, and listening are interconnected skills that develop collectively. They are also the key to critical thinking instruction. The more fluent students as readers, writers, speakers, and listeners, the clearer, more coherent, and more flexible their thinking will become.
