Means giving students rewards or praise for accomplishments related to the attainment of a goal. RECOMMENDATIONS 1. Personalize recognition 2. Use pause/prompt/praise strategy 3. Use concrete symbols of recognition

Resources to Provide Recognition DATA COLLECTION Use web-based surveys and classroom response systems to provide recognition. -The teacher sets up a clear standard of performance as to recognize the work and not the popularity of the student. -Use an online survey or a verbal classroom response.

Resources to Provide Recognition MULTIMEDIA Handing a student a personalized certificate to celebrate high-quality work. -Download software programs such as free templates from Microsoft Word and Power-Point to design a certificate. -Print Shop Deluxe can help create certificates or card with student’s name and photo on it.

Resources to Provide Recognition WEB RESOURCES Recognizing specific or individualized performances as a motivator using the web. -Web Showcases and Picture Galleries allow teachers to put student work on the school website or create an online portfolio. -Online Certificates allow teachers to send a certificate or greeting card to a deserving student.

Resources to Provide Recognition COMMUNICATION SOFTWARE In the modern classroom and video conferencing can be used by teachers as well. -Audio Recording an oral phrase and sending it to a student does wonders. -Video Conferencing: Can be a more personable, meaningful and relevant way to recognize a student.
