Changes from Spring 2015 A new INSIGHT test engine installation is required for ALL sites beginning with Fall/Winter ; DRC INSIGHT Testing Engine version 6.x.x INSIGHT will NOT auto-update from 5.x.x to 6.x.x This update will allow sites that need to use DRC INSIGHT for more than one testing program to install one INSIGHT browser and configure it for both programs. All testing devices will be managed via the Device Toolkit (previously only used for Chromebooks). Be sure to whitelist dtk.drcedirect.com to enable all testing devices to communicate with the device toolkit.

Changes from Spring 2015 There is an update to the TSM software to address audio and video download performance. This update is expected to be available starting Nov. 11. Previously installed versions will auto-update or alert you to manually update depending on the setting selected during installation. DRC will technology coordinators when this update is officially available. Some Android Tablets are now supported (see Testing Devices: Android). Since September 1, 2015, DRC has not supported Windows XP or Mac and they will be restricted from use with the next release of DRC software applications.

Changes from Spring 2015 The English passage audio playback problems that were experienced during Spring 2015 have been addressed. Passage audio files will be broken into smaller sized files. Eases the loading process Offers additional starting points to students NOTE: DRC has identified some additional audio playback problems on DRC-certified Android devices. DRC INSIGHT System Overview

Tutorial Video presentation that guides TAs and students through testing experience. Includes functionality of testing tools and system navigation May be viewed in a large-group setting Available via eDIRECT link under Test Setup/General Information (log in not required) Also available on the Welcome page of DRC INSIGHT after launching the program

Online Tools Training (OTT) Allows TAs and students a hands-on opportunity to practice using the testing tools and functionality of technology enhanced items. Can be used to check that the testing engine and HVA are working correctly Available by launching INSIGHT software Oral administration (HVA) version available Student OTT sessions should be scheduled prior to and separate from the operational testing time

Helpful Hints – Oral Administration (HVA) Ensure the appropriate number of working headphones are available for students. Adjust the volume on each workstation to a comfortable level. Check student accommodations in Test Setup (eDIRECT) to ensure oral administration has been assigned. Do not use student test tickets to test that software is working. OTT logins should be used for these purposes.

Helpful Hints – Oral Administration (HVA) DURING TESTING When a student logs in, he/she should see audio buttons on the Welcome screen. Students will hear a human voice for directions and test items. A text-to-speech (synthesized) voice will read the Help content. If a student needs to adjust the volume during testing, they should click the ‘Options’ button and select ‘Audio Settings.’

Network Requirements All testing devices should have access to the Internet and DRC servers using HTTP/HTTPS protocols on ports 80 and 443. All firewalls should allow connectivity on ports 80 and 443. Whitelist the following file types, both internally and externally: enc, exe (for updates), gif, html, jar, jpeg, xml. Prioritize/whitelist INSIGHT traffic on: firewalls, Internet packet shaper, routers, switches, proxies, other network devices. Whitelist these URLs on content filtering systems or other proxy/firewall software that is used locally. for HTTP for HTTPS (secure HTTP) (device toolkit)

Testing Site Manager (TSM)

TSM What you need to know… Allows students to continue testing if internet connection fails (response caching) Reduces Internet traffic by approximately 50% by caching test content (content caching) 1 TSM recommended for every 150 simultaneous testers (utilization of HVA/VSL increases the number of TSMs needed) Highly recommended whenever possible Mandatory for oral (HVA) testing accommodations ** TSM Update is expected to be available Nov 11. Previously installed TSMs may auto-update if configured during installation.

Testing Devices iPads

iPads What you need to know… iPad 2 or newer (iPad minis are not supported) iOS or newer Each device must be connected to the Internet and to the TSM, if applicable. To distribute (deploy) the INSIGHT App (DRC INSIGHT.ipa) you must use a Mobile Device Management (MDM) software tool. Device Toolkit Org Unit code can be configured with a MDM that supports Managed App Configuration. Guided Access (or Autonomous Single App Mode) must be enabled and activated on each device before testing. Oral administration (HVA) testing is available. Video sign language (VSL) testing is available (for Spring administrations).

iPad System Requirements

iPads Configuration Options 1.If your MDM supports the Managed App Configuration feature, you can use the MDM to deploy the INSIGHT configuration file (downloaded from the Device Toolkit) to all iPad devices. 2.If your MDM does not support the Managed App Configuration feature, you will use your MDM to distribute the INSIGHT App to the iPad devices, but you must manually configure each iPad.

iPads Installation - MDM with Managed App 1.Install MDM and enroll iPads. 2.Configure MDM iPad group with system settings, and if MDM allows: Configure Guided Access (or Autonomous Single App Mode). It is not necessary to turn off Spell Check, Predictive Text, Auto- Correction, Auto-Capitalization or delete the Emoji keyboard for EOCEP because there are only MC/TE test questions; the only setting that requires special configuration is Guided Access.

iPads Installation - MDM with Managed App 3.Access eDIRECT for software; Test Setup/General Information (Permission for Online Testing – Secured Resources is needed for access) 4.Download the DRC INSIGHT iPad.ipa file

iPads Installation - MDM with Managed App 6.In the MDM, upload the DRC INSIGHT configuration file (downloaded from the Device Toolkit ORG Unit) to supply the ORG Unit ID from your Device Toolkit

iPads Installation – MDM; Configure Manually 1.Install MDM and enroll iPads. 2.Install Testing Site Manager (TSM). 3.Create ORG Unit in Device Toolkit. (Note ORG Unit ID) 4.Download DRC INSIGHT and deploy via MDM.

iPads Installation – MDM; Configure Manually 4. From each individual iPad device: Launch DRC INSIGHT. Configuration Not Found Screen will display; select Assign Device to ORG Unit. Enter in Org Unit ID from your device toolkit; select Add; select Register. System Readiness Check will load. Green status indicates tests have passed. Update settings in Device Toolkit as needed.

iPads Working with Guided Access What you need to know: Guided Access is the iPad feature that puts the device into kiosk mode. To ensure test security, DRC INSIGHT will not operate without Guided Access enabled. A four-digit numeric passcode is required for configuration; this passcode is used to enter and exit Guided Access during testing, and therefore, must be shared with Test Administrators. It should not be shared with students. To configure manually on each device: Settings-General-Accessibility-Guided Access Turn Guided Access on and click Set Passcode. Enter/re-enter four-digit passcode. Click Home button to exit Settings.

iPads Working with Guided Access To begin testing, the Test Administrator or student should enable Guided Access: Launch DRC INSIGHT. Triple-click Home button quickly; the message Guided Access Enabled should display. Student may log in to test. To exit testing, the Test Administrator should exit Guided Access after student has submitted test: Triple-click Home button quickly and enter four-digit Guided Access passcode. Press End and then Exit.

iPads Working with Guided Access Autonomous Single App Mode (ASAM) is an iOS feature that can limit iPads to a single app (similar to Guided Access or Kiosk Mode). With ASAM, you do not have to manually turn on Guided Access before testing with INSIGHT—ASAM starts INSIGHT in Autonomous Single App Mode and releases the iPad from this mode when you exit INSIGHT. ASAM is managed by your MDM solution, or the Apple Configurator. For more information, see: _ pdf

Testing Devices Chromebooks

Chromebooks What you need to know… Only non-touch devices and the four touch-screen devices listed below are supported at this time. If your devices allow touch function to be disabled, it may be possible to use INSIGHT with a mouse or touchpad. Acer C720P; Lenovo N20P; Dell Chromebook 11; HP Chromebook 14 G3 Initial setup no longer involves touching every device. Each device must be connected to the Internet and to the TSM, if applicable. Prior to configuring, each device should be enrolled in the Device Manager found within Google Apps for Education. Oral administration (HVA) or video sign language (VSL) testing available VSL is currently offered in Spring administrations only.

Chromebook System Requirements
