The Bill of Rights is a written statement that spells out the rights of citizens and is also the first ten amendments. The civil rights are those rights granted to citizens by their government. You must be 18 years or older to vote. In the last few centuries the human rights became entwined with the struggle in many countries for representative government. The rights in the constitution are not all considered absolute. The Bill of Rights 1.The freedom of religion, speech, press and opinion 2.The freedom to bear arms 3.No military in your home 4.No unreasonable searches 5.The right to remain silent and not incriminate yourself 6.The right to a speedy and public trial 7.The right to a jury trial in civil matters of $20 and over 8.The right to fair fines and bail. No cruel and unusual punishment 9.Americans have rights that are not listed in the constitution 10.State rights. Any rights not given in the constitution is given to the states to legislate

The Preamble We The People of the United States, in order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America

Articles of the constitution that defines 1.The Legislative branch, its powers, members, and workers 2.The Executive branch, its powers, duties, and means of removal 3.Sets up the Judicial branch and defines treason 4. Regulates the states’ powers and their interaction with the national government 5. Sets up the amendment process 6. Sets the status of the Constitution as the supreme law of the land, to which leaders must be loyal 7. Addresses ratification and declares that the Constitution should take affect in 9 out of 13 states ratify

The Constitution can be changed. The constitution is changed by an “amendment”. Among the amendments is a list of the rights of the people. By listing these rights, they are made special. It is illegal for the government to violate those rights. As of 2006 there is 27 amendments. Not all of them involve rights but many of them do. The first ten amendments are special. They are called the Bill Of Rights.
