Element Baby Book Project Procedures and Example

Congratulations!

Introduction In this project you will adopt an element from the periodic table. As the proud new parent of your element, you will create a baby book to remember each stage of your element’s life. This project is worth 100 points! Some parts will be completed in class others done at home

How and When? Baby Ultrasound 10 pts. Create a Bohr model of your Element (must be created by you!!) Make sure to include the correct number of protons, neutrons and electrons Correctly identify the electron configuration of your element (this should be written on the page)

Family Tree 10 pts. Create a family tree to place with following information. Family name (name of the group it belongs to alkali metals, halogens, etc.) Brothers and sisters (names of the group members) For each brother and sister include their electron dot configuration

Explain who your element baby likes to hand around Find 3 common molecules your element is in Draw a picture showing all the elements in that molecule State the properties of each molecules (what does it do) in a creative way Draw a picture of each molecule showing a common use or property are way it interacts with the world

I’m a water molecule. I have 2 hydrogen atoms and 1 oxygen atom I’m a water molecule! I have 2 hydrogen atoms and 1 oxygen atom. You can find me all over the world. I’m really good at sticking with other water molecules and I’m not very reactive at all. Example

Element’s 1st Baby Picture Draw a picture of your element in a way that shows its real-life uses.

Elements Personality 10pts. In story, cartoon, poem, song, comic or other creative way to show your baby’s personality Color Density Boiling Point Melting Point Something interesting about the history of your element baby or about what it does.

My baby’s Personality Baby hydrogen is colorless and has no odor (which is good for his mommies nose). He isn’t very dense at 0.000082 g/cm-³. He’s very chill with a boiling point of -252.879°C or -423.182°F. He won’t melt on you if you take his ice cream at -259.16°C or -434.49°F. But overall he’s a great baby and once he was even used to fly huge airships. That was until they discovered he lights on fire really easy and stopped using him.
