Online Predators PSA Cydney Carter 7 th hour Mrs. Anaya English 101

What is it all about?  The creator behind this PSA is the missing and exploited foundation.  My PSA is exactly 60 seconds long  There are 2 people in the PSA with dialogue, one female and one male.  The girl is about 14 or 15 years old and the man is about mid twenties give or take a couple years.

Continued….  The ethnicity of both of the actors in the PSA would most likely be white.  The socio-economic status is about middle class for both.  Educationally speaking the young girl must still be in middle school and the man out of school.  Obviously the male role has an interest in talking to younger women & the girl is promiscuous.  The roles in the PSA are animated and not very commonly known.  The sound techniques used happen to be low key music but with a very serious tone.

Speech  No there is no announcer and or voice over.  There is dialogue between the two people pertaining to what happens in online predators.  The speech is informal and there are no certain key words used, only useful information from both sides of online predating.

Music  There is music in the PSA closing the video  The music is an instrumental, piano to be exact  The instrumental fits the seriousness of the PSA, making it rememorable  The whole beginning part of the PSA is silence  The silence plays a part in the PSA because there is no distraction, keeping you focused on the speakers

What do you see?  In the PSA the only images you see are the 2 speakers back and forth  The pacing of the PSA is mid to fast pace because the speakers are switching off and on after every sentence  There are no fix ins or outs  Angles of the shots play a huge role, there are close ups of the mouth of both male & girl.  They also angle where you can see the full body to determine the age of both people

Statistics  The man states that online predating is easier than you think because young girls are flattered to be talking to an older man.  The girl also states that more insecure girls fall into online predating  1 in 5 kids are sexually solicited

Who is this pertaining to?  The target audience is mostly focused to families with little girls or upcoming teens or older men to put a stop to online soliciting.  The core message of the PSA is to show and tell how easy it is to slip into becoming a victim of online predating  Some techniques that the creators used that achieved their message was using dialogue between the 2 actors.

Techniques  One major technique that was used that had such a huge impact is the camera angle.  The silence also helped the seriousness of the PSA  Ending the PSA in an instrumental was very intellectual

Was the message effective?  The PSA seems to be very effective and reliable. I believe that as a whole it will help many girls around the world be more aware of how easy it is to become a victim and how dangerous the situation can be. The 3 techniques that made up the PSA were also greatly useful and helped it get the message across. All in all the producers achieved the impact that was intended and should be a useful source through the country.
