NATIVE AMERICANS

introduction The first indian the pilgrims met was Samoset. His first word was ’’welcome ’’.There was another indian, his name was Squanto or Tisquantum if you like. He spoke English so he helped the pilgrims to survive.

Squanto’s story Squanto was captured by a ship’s captain when he was young. He was taken to England, where he learnt to speak English. He escaped and returned to his country but when he finally arrived he discovered that a lot of indians had been killed by the plague or maybe smallpox.

Squanto and the Pilgrims Squanto taught the Pilgrims how to hunt, fish and how to grow corn. He helped them to negociate this treaty with Massasoit, the leader of the Wampanoag tribe.

Massasoit Massasoit was the leader of the Wampanoag tribe. He signed the peace treaty with the settlers with Tisquantum’s help.
