 Born in 1527, son of a painter.  Trained in painting and art, worked on church windows and tapestries.  In 1562, he is assigned to be the court painter for Ferdinand I in Vienna.

 At first, Guiseppe was a standard court portraitist.  No big deal.  But, given the fascination with witchcraft, the occult and puzzles during this time, Guiseppe began to paint his now-famous “nature portraits.”
