Things are going great and getting better everyday. Please continue to come on out and support your Post, your Lounge, the SAL, Auxiliary, ALR and the many activities that we have planned for the year to come. For God and Country, Marsha Martin 1st Vice Commanders October Report Our current membership numbers are at 55%. This is outstanding! We must have 55% by October 7, Now we need to keep them membership renewals coming in. Ask your friends if they have paid their dues and if they haven’t paid yet, come on down to the Post and pay them up. See me or Mouse. Post 240 will have 100% membership this year, but only with your help. Together, we can do this and make the Post as good as it used to be. We have had 18 new members and 1 transfer so far. Don’t forget Oktoberfest at the Post on Oct. 10, 2009, at 12:00. Come out and support the Post family, for what we do for the Veterans. Department of Florida has an incentive plan this year for membership recruitment. They will pay you $5.00 for every new member you sign up. See me for details. Jimmy lee Martin American Legion Riders Hello Riders, First I would like to again welcome our new members; Kelly Gilkerson and Chris Emerine, And to welcome back some past members; Cliff Head, Mike Hertzler, David Pierce, and Ron Gyorkos. And the big one October 24th our 7th annual poker run benefiting "Children and Youth". Be at the post 8:00 am the morning of the ride. There will be a brief meeting, all volunteers are welcome. I am asking all ALR members to make plans to be there whether you are riding or working the run. You are the ones that will make this poker run a successful event. J.D. Ellis Director Sons of the American Legion Hello SAL; Oktoberfest will be on Oct. 10th, we will have a B.B. gun turkey shoot for the festivities. We will also offer our support for all other activities for that day as all monies raised for that day will be split equally among all groups, your attendance will be appreciated. I will remind you that our regular monthly meetings are on the first Thursdays of each month, please attend, the Sons and the legion need your help. Hope to see you there!!! Mark Seaman Auxiliary President’s Corner Sorry I didn’t get my article in last months newsletter. The best way to find out what your Unit is doing or planning to do, is, attend the General meetings the 2 nd Tuesday of each month. Then you can participate and have a say in how your Unit is managed. Your Unit will be participating in the Annual Oktoberfest 10 Oct. Have some ideas or want to help? Contact me anytime at Kids Halloween party will be held on 24 Oct from 12 to 3 PM. All kids ages 3 thru 11 invited. Prizes for best costumes. Want to help – call me. We are planning a yard sale to raise funds for the Unit on 21 Nov starting at 8am. Have something you would like to donate call or You call – we haul. AUXILIARY SATURDAY BINGO IS BACK – the first Saturday of every month. All Unit members urged to come out and play or lend a hand. Bring your friends and neighbors and enjoy a night out. Vie Eyerly Post 240 website: From the 2nd Vice: Members of Post 240, as I suggested in last months Victors Voice that I was going to try and re-establish dances in the Post, I have passed the first hurdle and scheduled a dance for us. We all need to support our Post or we might wake up one morning and it will be closed for good. I know that is hard to fathom, but it could happen. So, how about coming out and support your Post and have a good time. October 17 th from 8pm until midnight. Come out and enjoy the fabulous Coppertones as we kick up our heels on the dance floor. They play music for all age groups so no one is left out. Price is only $5.00 per person and it will be open to the public so bring along a friend or two. Thank all of you for your support.Bud Kalman Eagle’s Lair Lounge Manager, I would like to thank all those that have returned to the lounge. Things are headed in a positive direction, so keep on coming out and supporting us. We have a lot planned for October, so check the calendar. We will have a costume contest with prizes for 1 st $50, 2 nd $25 and 3 rd $10. Tim Wright Post Fundraiser: $500 Visa Card $10 per ticket Drawing 11Nov.
