CELEBRITIES

THE BAND  George – (Vocal/Guitar)  Tom – (Bass)  Charles – (Drums)  Genre – Alternative/indie  All band members attend Northampton College

OUR IDEA  We start in the rooms used by the music students in Northampton College. We see the band members prepare to record/practice, tuning instruments, writing lyrics, setting up amps etc.  Second location is the TV room we used the other day, we put the band in there, film them. Use the smoke machine, fancy lights etc.  Finally we put the band in the room next to the lecture theatre, the one with the stage. We see the band performing on the stage, doing their thing, but at the end of the video, the camera pans to the audience, revealing that there is no audience.

REASON BEHIND THE IDEA  The music video shows the band through the stages of recording, writing lyrics etc. to shooting a video and then finally performing live. The video goes on a journey with the band and shows them progress. But at the end its revealed that the band are playing in front of an empty crowd. Showing that the band haven’t really made it and that they are only messing around.

CODES AND CONVENTIONS The narrative is how the band progresses from writing songs to performing it live on the stage or so it seems. Most Indie bands are dressed in neutral coloured casual clothing such as jeans and polo shirts, they also have scruffy hairstyles. This supports the relaxed and laid back image. There is also use of coloured lighting, which could be seen as something unconventional for indie bands, However in general the setting which the band is in is dark and moody. The target audience for this band is people that like to listen to indie bands aged 14 – 20, mostly male.
