Psychological barriers A fear of losing independence. Stigma associated with using some services. Not wanting to be looked after by others. Mental health problems.

Cultural and language barriers Using English may deter some people from using services. Not having professionals who are the same sex for example women doctors or consultants for women. Written information not in the persons own language. Not knowing what is available Some treatments being considered unacceptable to certain cultures
