Math /Spreadsheets And the ACC

Unit Summary The students will use ACC basketball statistics to practice the process of determining the mean, medium and mode and will learn how to create a spreadsheet and formulas to obtain their answers. They will then use this spreadsheet to analyze their data. This unit will be completed during the basketball season. Students will also practice their multi-media skills to learn more about their ACC team.

Math, Spreadsheets and the ACC Essential Question – What are the Facts of Life? Content: – How do we use math in everyday life? – How do we use spreadsheets in every day life?

Activities Activities will include the creation of a spreadsheet including formulas for calculation. Creation of Brochure or PowerPoint to high light the ACC University of your choice.

Procedures Students will search the ACC Website to determine the choice of school.ACC Website Students will take notes from the website and utilize the information to create their powerpt and prepare their spreadsheet. Student will share their information in pairs to discuss information. A check list will be provided for students to ensure students are on task. Frequent discussions with open-ended question will be used for a type of assessment.

KWL Provide students with KWL prior to beginning of project to determine how much knowledge each student knows and how much pre-information will need to be provided.
