What is an Allusion? Allusion: a brief and indirect reference to a person, place, thing or idea of historical, cultural, literary or political significance. It does not describe in detail the person or thing to which it refers. The writer expects the reader to possess enough knowledge to spot the allusion and grasp its importance in a text

The Bible The most alluded to piece of literature in the world (due to history and popularity) Biblical allusions often have to do with: 1. The book of genesis and its stories (i.e.: the creation story, the flood story) 2. Deuteronomy, the book of numbers and the story of Moses 3. The New Testimate and the story of Christ
