Uses Yttrium is not found in nature as a free element. But is found in almost all rare- earth mineral. Yttrium is used to produce the red color in television pictures tubes. It has potential uses in ceramics and glass. Are used to filter microwaves.
Facts Yttrium oxide is one of the most important compounds of yttrium. Yttrium metal of 99.99% purity is commercially available at a cost of $75/oz. Yttrium occurs in nearly all of the rare- earth minerals. Yttrium has a silver-metallic luster and is relatively stable in air.
