Student-Cruise from Warnemünde to Gdansk Oct. 2007, RV ALKOR NaT-Working “Marine Research”, IFM-GEOMAR, Cluster of Excellence “The Future Ocean”, Kiel, Germany 6 students (age 16-18) from different schools in Kiel, Germany, with prior experience in ocean research (NaT-Working) 2 students from Bergen, Norway: exchange students (CarboNordic) 1 teacher from Kiel (NaT-Working) 3 scientists (oceanography, marine biology) incl. 2 day trips with 7 students and 2 teachers from Poland: winners of Science Competition Program: Training: use of scientific methods Research: sampling of Mnemiopsis (jellyfish invading the Baltic) along the cruise track Public Outreach: “Open Ship” for general public in Gdansk Mnemiopsis leidyi Cruise plan: 2 days from Warnemünde to Gdansk 2 day trips into the Baltic in Gdansk 1 day “Open Ship” 2 days from Gdansk to Warnemünde
