Morality 3.1 Honoring God

Bellwork Morality 3.1 Honoring God  Read this summary of CCC :  Because the Almighty has revealed himself to us as our God and Lord, we must not place anything above him or consider anything more important or give any other thing or person priority over him. To know God is to serve and worship him as absolute priority in our life. YouCat 352  Think about it!  Write in response:  Using complete sentences, write down 3 ways that someone who knows you could see on a daily basis that you love and worship God.

Bellwork M 3.1, Cont.  Discuss:  What is one way that someone could see that you love and honor God?  GO DEEPER:  The Catechism goes on to say that God is “a constant, unchangeable being, always the same, faithful and just, without any evil.”  Please describe God in your own words using at least 5 adjectives or descriptive phrases.

Prayer: Stations of the Cross

The First Commandment: Honoring God  Read together CCH pp  Vocabulary to learn:  Idolatry = To worship of other beings, creatures, or material goods in a way that is fitting for God alone.  Atheism = To deny the existence of God.  Sacrilege = An offense against God. It is the abuse of a person, place, or thing dedicated to God and the worship of God.  To venerate = Is to do an action that shows deep reverence for something sacred. For example, on Good Friday, individuals in the assembly venerate the cross by bowing before or kissing it.
