 Myocardial infarction – heart attack due to lack of oxygen  Atherosclerosis – lipid build up due to diet, causing narrowing of arteries, treated with angioplasty  Angina pectoris – chest pain, warning sign of myocardial infarction  Coronary bypass surgery, vessels from other areas of body are used to bypass clogged arteries.

Heart Failure – inability to pump enough blood  Cardiomyopathy – disease of myocardial tissue  Cor pulmonale – overload Right side of heart due to pulmonary obstruction  Congestive heart failure – left sided heart failure – can not pump blood effectively, retains fluid
