Fathers and their Children…….Eph. 6:1-4
Ephesians 6:1-4 1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. 2 Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise; 3 That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.
4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
Fathers and the children God has given them Psalms 127:3-5
3 Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. 4 As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. 5 Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.
Enoch Gen. 5:21-24 Heb. 11:5 Jude A father who walked with God Example The Kind of Fathers Needed in 2013
Deuteronomy 11:18-19,21 “You shall therefore impress these words of mine on your heart and on your soul and you shall teach them to your sons, talking of them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road….so that your days and the days of your sons may be multiplied”
Challenges We can miss the fact that our sons and daughters need to talk. They need a Dad they can talk to! We might resist sharing our failures and lessons learned. We all make mistakes. Dads, tell your children about the real You… (Lk. 18:13)
“Dad has to be close enough to his son to be able to call the ‘heart of the man’ out of the boy”. If this does not happen, typically a boy will try to become a man in all the wrong ways. All of us dads need to seek to be Closer to our children.
Your regrets and how it could have been different. TIME Jas. 4:13,14 How unwise choices affect you to this day How unwise choices affect you to this day Jas.1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. What you have learned over the years “I was always looking for ‘more’ but I got the ‘wrong’ more”
Let your children know where the traps are…. (The devil sets many…I Pet. 5:8,9 Be sober, be Vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour; whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
“Someone has said: Christianity is like diving, it becomes easier when you stop trying to preserve yourself”
Independence: A man to his son.. “If independence has anything to do with distance at all, it lies in moving closer to your dad, not farther away. To God, independence means rising up and taking your place side by side with your dad, standing shoulder to shoulder with him as a man”
When we honor our parents and have a close relationship with them, only then are we prepared to handle temptation, because the person who respects their parents naturally respects themselves
Things so important to children: To have a father who puts God’s business above any other business. Matt. 6:33. Gal. 2:20 Matt. 5:16
…Be an example: A father who brings his children to Worship rather than sending them Dad, I wanta be just like you!
A father who is to be the right example to every boy and girl he meets. These children give me great joy When they run to see me “hi bro. Guy” Little Abby, and even had a wild flower For me!..Stand by me in the back!
A father who goes to worship to praise God and be a good example… John 4:23,24 Heb. 10:25 Acts 20:7
A father who has a passion to help rather than a passion to be helped. “I am thine, O Lord,”. Gal. 6:10 Matt. 7:21-23 Matt. 25:31-46
A father who sees his own faults before he sees the faults of others…especially his own Children! “Lord, is it I?” Matt. 26:22 I Tim. 1:15 Jas. 5:16
A father who is willing to forgive quickly as he yearns to be forgiven himself. I John 2:1-2 I John 1:7-10 Luke 18:13
A father who seeks to Keep his promises. Examples in the Bible of people who made promises & kept them: Hannah. I Sam. 1:11..and she did Joshua 24:15..and he did Joshua 24:31 “And Israel served the Lord all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders that overlived Joshua, and which had known all the works of the Lord, that he had done for Israel.
“When you make a vow to God, do not be late in paying it; for He takes no delight in fools. Pay what you vow!” (Ecclesiastes 5:4)

Psalm 48:1 “Great is the Lord “Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness”
My plea! Psalm 139:23,24 “Search me, O God, And know my heart: try me, and know My thoughts; And see if there be any wicked way in Me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
Search me, Lord Know me, Lord Try me, Lord Know my thoughts, Lord Lord, Is there any wicked way in me? Lead me, Lord Where? …. in the way everlasting!
