IntroductionMissionGoals Academic program Faculty and research Research facility Outline 3

Formerly known as the "Agro-chemical schoolroom" of Agricultural division in Taipei Imperial University since 1928, it was renamed to the Department of Agricultural Chemistry of National Taiwan University in 1945 and the B.S. program was offered. The graduate programs for the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees were established in 1947 and 1968, respectively. Introduction-1 3

The Department is committed to basic research and application in four disciplines : (1) soil and environmental sciences; (2) plant nutrition, phytochemistry, and plant biotecnology; (3) microbiology and biotechnology; (4) utilization of bioresources. Introduction-2 3

The department has 17 full time professors h can be divided into four major study and research fields, including: The department has 17 full time professors ( two faculty are in recruiting), which can be divided into four major study and research fields, including: (1) six professors for soil and environmental sciences; (2) four professors for plant nutrition, phytochemistry, and plant biotecnology; (3) four professors for microbiolo55gy and biotechnology; (4) three professors for utilization of bioresources. Introduction-3 3

We will continue revising our contents of courses and research to meet the requirement of country and to meet the working opportunities and ideal career of graduate students. Introduction-4 3

We also want to provide good teaching quality and train students having more specific technologies on agricultural chemistry and internationalized leadership, and also to generate good research environment and resources, to produce innovative research results and to promote research quality. Introduction-5 3

The teaching quality and examination process were improved to strengthen student confidence. The department also enhances the teaching programs and research capacities via hiring new faculty members and enhancement of the cooperation and integration of courses with other departments. Introduction-6 4

Department of Agricultural Chemistry Both microcosm and macrocosm From atom to molecule From molecule to cell From cell to ecosystemMission To participate the global efforts on the safety of living environments, the Department is committed to attain the highest quality of human capital and scientific knowledge for the sustainable growth of agricultural ecosystems and the green utilization of bioresources. 2

10 Goals-1 (1)To provide higher teaching quality, and train the people to develop expertise as an expert on science and technology with leadership. (2)To create high quality environment and resources for studying, produce investigative originality, and raise the quality of researches. 2

11 Goals-2 (3)To integrate the excellent human resources and create a team of multi- divisions of science for extending the agricultural chemistry-related investigation. (4)To provide the techniques and strategies for food producing, ecological environment protecting and biodiversity maintaining. 2

12 Goals-3 (5)To provide frontier knowledge and advance high quality agricultural products and living industries of healthy food, bioresource materials etc. and the green utilization of bioresources. 2
