Curriculum Services Team What Are We Looking At? Grade, Subject, School, Question Number, Question Type, Skill, Range of Skills, Criteria What Information is Missing?

Curriculum Services Team Considerations IIR’s should be used as an additional source of data to inform instruction. IIR’s will help us to identify strengths and weaknesses in student performance. Each skill or strand is assessed a limited number of times and represent only 1 indicator of achievement.

Curriculum Services Team Additional Data Sources Question booklets Scoring Guides (Anchors) Student Roster IIR Report Card data School based assessments (e.g., ESI) Standardized Assessments (e.g., DRA) Teaching / Learning strategies

Curriculum Services Team Interpreting Data 1.Group Questions a. Strand / Skill (e.g., implicit, explicit, making connections) b. Question Type (e.g., MC, SA, OR) c. Text Features (e.g., graphic organizers) d. Concepts (e.g., word study)

Curriculum Services Team Interpreting Data 2. Analyze and Determine a. Areas where many students performed well b. Areas that were challenges for many students

Curriculum Services Team Use ORID Questions Objective questions – –What information is in the IIR? –What is not? Reflect –When looking at the information, what feelings are elicited? –Did you have an “AHA” moment? Interpret –What can the IIR tell you about the teaching practices in your school? –What other information do you need? Decide –What now? Next steps? –How will you share the IIR with others?
