Pair up and Discuss How can “power & energy” industry help you? How can universities help the “power & energy” industry?

Workforce Development Industry help University Scholarship & Awards – Industrial speakers (spend time on campus) – Demonstrate diversity of ECE employment opportunities within power & energy – Facility trips – Advisory Boards – Accreditation assistance – Discussions with Dean and upper administrators – $ and support where mouth is – Partnerships in proposals – Real work data and examples for classes and research – Cost sharing (may include in-kind) and support letters – K-12 Outreach – Understand research problems and data – Industrial based senior design projects – Help faculty understand industry short term needs – NSF GOALI – Internships (UG & Grad) – Industrial reps helping with advanced electives University help Industry – Listen to needs (may be regional) – curriculum changes or updates including soft skills – Long term visions and concerns – Providing help in disseminating of information to the public – Educate all companies on how ECE’s can contribute – Provide their new workforce – Part-time graduate students – Sabbatical leave/summer work – Help understand how universities work – Help them with their internal education and on-site education – Continuing education Re-training Alternative education methods (evenings, weekends and on-line) Certificates Graduate degrees University /Industry Interchange Diversity best practices
