The difference between a college and a university is that a college just offers a collection of degrees/majors in one specific area while a university is a collection of colleges. When you go to a university you are going to be graduating from one of their colleges, such as the Business College. As to which is better, it depends on what you want. CERTIFICATES Certificate programs are designed to upgrade existing skills or provide competencies for employment. DEGREES Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree can prepare students for entry into a specific occupational area or prepare them for a BAS – Bachelor in Applied Science, an occupational transfer degree program at the university. Associate of General Studies (AGS) degree is designed for students interested in pursuing a different academic pathway and accomplishing a more personalized academic goal. Transfer Associate Degrees (see DAWC booklet) are designed to enable a student to TRANSFER to a university in order to pursue a 4yr-Bachelor’s Degree.
