Newton’s First Law of Motion

First Law of Motion This law states that the state of motion of an object does not change as long as the net force acting on the object is zero Unless an unbalanced force acts on it, an object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion

First Law of Motion Often called the law of inertia Inertia is the tendency of an object to resist a change in motion An object at rest tends to stay at rest and an object in motion tends to stay in motion

First Law of Motion applied to life Suppose you are traveling in a car that comes to a sudden stop Your body does not want to stop that is why it is important to wear a seatbelt If the car crashes your body continues to move at the same speed of the car until it is stopped either by the windshield, airbag, seatbelt or the ground
