DEFINITION  CELL PHONE – A mobile telephone using a system of radio transmitters.

TIMELINE  1973-the first cell made by Dr. Martin Cooper, the beginning of the 1G network.  Bell launches first trial commercial cellular network in Chicago.  Nokia introduces their first cell phone.  Motorola DynaTAC 8000X is the first commercial cell phone available in the U.S.  FCC approves the digital AMPS, the beginning of the end for analog networks.  First commercial GSM call in the world.  TXT messaging appears for 1 st time LOL

HISTORY OF THE CELL PHONE  Its has been more than 35 years since Martin Cooper placed the first call on a mobile phone. In 1977 the first cell phone was made in Chicago.

TYPES OF CELL PHONES

CELL PHONES USE TODAY  Beyond text messaging and picture-taking, features that already have become old hat for many, more users are using phones to follow sporting events, play games, check the weather, get driving directions based on live traffic data, and find the cheapest gas prices.

ADVANTAGES OF THE CELL PHONE  1) When filling an application for work, what phone number are you going to put in? The house? No that doesn’t work.  2) In case of emergency, how are you going to contact them when your in school?  3) If your car broke down, how would you call the police?

DISADVANTAGES OF THE CELL PHONE  1) Cost of a cell phone  2) Distraction for young children  3) Talking on the phone while driving  4) Lack of privacy

Dr. Martin Cooper  Born in December 26, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois  Live in Chicago, Illinois, USA.  Education – Illinois Institute of Technology.  Occupation – Inventor Entrepreneur.  Died in May 6, 1873 by cancer.

The First Call  The first call caused a fundamental technology and communications market shift toward the person away from the place. It also created another vision for Martin Cooper. His vision was for personal wireless communication.

More About The Cell Phone  Although mobile phones have taken over our current society, they have been around for many decades. They come in different shapes and sizes.
