Márcio Márcio Sérgio Sérgio
She was born in Lisbon on 5 th October 1911 and died in Cascais on 29 th March 2011, close to 100 years old. She was a Portuguese mathematician, co-founder and #1 associate of the Portuguese Mathematical Society. Biography
Between 1942 and 1946 she got her PhD in Zurich. Pilar Ribeiro attended several specialization courses in Mathematics.
In 1947, she left Portugal with her husband, for political reasons, to live in the USA, where she taught Mathematics in the Pennsylvania State University. She returned to Portugal after the Revolution of 1974 and became a Professor at Instituto de Ciências Biomédicas Abel Salazar in University of Porto, from 1976 and 1980.
